Happy Juneteenth Independence Day! What our history books failed to properly teach us. Dehydrated from the truth. The thirst for knowledge of the real past is up to us to hunt down as we begin to not only open up our eyes as a nation but also our ears, hearts and minds. So much has been happening in the last few weeks that gives us all a glimpse of hope that the suffering of a community can be eased with equality, liberty and justice for all. This is a long path as the learning of what shaped us will
never end but a continued journey to take action to right the wrongs. So what I’m saying is, let’s celebrate the independence of black people in America and this should be recognized as an official national holiday.
