Yogesh holds his daughter close, showing his love with hugs and kisses. But he wasn't always such an engaged father - it was a full week after Manyata was born before he held his baby in his arms. “I was too scared to do it,” he admitted. "And even after I did it, I had no idea what else to do – how to bathe her, interact with her or what to feed her after she grew a little older.” Most other fathers he knew - including his own - were hardly involved in the early moments of their children’s lives. It was considered a ‘mother’s job’.⠀

Yogesh began to realise the power of a father's care when the family started attending an early childhood development programme, which UNICEF and @ikea_foundation support in their community in India. He learned how to make meals a more fun and nutritious experience. He saw how playing together could boost Manyata's brain. And he felt how his two-year-old responded when he gave her his undivided time, attention and love. Now, Yogesh proudly boasts about how his daughter is thriving.⠀
