The Philadelphia-based artist (@purpleshazey) checked in with curator Lanka Tattersall about artist collectivity and activism in our current moment, Shirley Chisholm, and Hayes’s new Artist Project.

The work-in-progress video centers around members of two Dallas-based women’s tackle football teams, the Arlington Impact and the Dallas Elite Mustangs. Interviews with players convey their passionate commitment to the sport, the joys they find within the physicality of the game, and pressing issues of gender and equity that inform both football and life beyond the field.
