🎶You can change the world when you change your mind.🎶 The Broadway production of “Kinky Boots” is one of the most popular and acclaimed musicals of the decade, having won six Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Original Score (by Cyndi Lauper), and Best Choreography. The musical tells the story of a struggling shoe factory that pivots to producing a flamboyant line of high-heeled boots for drag queens, with the help of the fabulous performer Lola—a role originated on Broadway by Billy Porter.
The costumes, including Lola's striking red dress and boots, were designed by Gregg Barnes, who was nominated for a Tony Award for his designs. Swipe to go from sketch to the show-shopping final product.
Today, the costume has gone from sketch, to stage, to Smithsonian.
