More specifically a group of Hanuman langurs, with babies, that are feeling playful! When that happens then the photographic possibilities are endless but as with all things photography there are many other variables that need to come into play, namely light, backdrop and perspective. On this day all of the elements serendipitously collided and we watched as these young langurs followed a familiar pattern as they leapt between trees. No gap it seems was too big to take on and these remarkably adapted arboreal specialists are a sight to behold when they are in full flow. An adult will leap out of the top of a tree without a second thought and such confidence has its origins at this young age. What fun it must be to be so adept, so athletic and so capable of the most astonishing athletic feats. For us it was relatively straightforward to capture as the repeatable behaviour gave us the chance to observe, learn and then be prepare, readying ourselves. Of course one could never legislate for the luck found in the helicopter tail but this is what the miracle of nature so often provides, little moments unplanned but so appreciated when they arrive. For those that might like to join me in Bandhavgarh for my Tigers of India photo-tour this coming January 2021, hopefully when this bloody virus has long gone, then just a few places remain on my two back-to-back trips.
