“Shame on you”. This is the last line of a comment calling me hyper sexualized for doing a handstand in shorts. What will they think of me in a bikini on a beach?

The person in question referred to me as “this chic” and disregarded my over 20 years of yoga experience and called me not a real yogi.

This online bullying has to stop.
Shaming women for what they wear has to stop.
The judgement circle has to be broken.

There are real people who read comments spoken in hate. This is me, Kino MacGregor, and this is my teaching, my practice and my body. When I first started practicing, handstand was the hardest thing for me ever. It took me five years to work up to balancing. I’ve now been practicing yoga for over 20 years. My new Journey to Handstand course builds up from the basics and starts from ground zero. When I post a handstand I hope you see what’s possible with years of practice with no prior physical experience before coming to yoga. When someone calls me “this chic” it feels demeaning and disrespectful to my years of study. When someone calls my teaching hyper sexualized and uses the word “shame” it perpetuates a misogynist paradigm that keeps women in small boxes of control.

I can wear a bikini on the beach and do yoga.
I can wear shorts and do a handstand.
I can put on leggings and do yoga.
I might even cover my full body in suit and practice.
But...
Neither you nor anyone else gives me permission. It’s my choice. If you see sex when see my body, ask yourself why. Is it just that I am a woman, in shorts practicing and you see “sex”?

No more shame.

I am here in Classic Miami style, as always ☀️ I will always cherish each moment in the sun at these sandy shores. I almost didn’t post this bc I was concerned it was too revealing, but after that comment I felt rebellious. No one is going to shame me off the beach, or off the mat, or out of my shorts.
