Many Americans are realizing the impacts that COVID-19 has on Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities because of underlying health conditions and lack of access to resources.⠀⁣ ⁣ COVID-19 has exposed how our systems don't work for people living in poverty and depending on government assistance. Some people have to choose between their health and keeping their jobs.⁣ ⠀⁣ During this challenging time, I have been focusing on my wellness and my family's health. Many people my age have felt pressured to be productive during this global pandemic, but it is crucial to take your time and be easy on yourself. ⠀⁣ ⠀⁣ I have factored time into my schedule for self-care to maintain my mental, spiritual and physical well-being. I enjoy painting outside and learning new embroidery techniques," says Alliyah, an 18-year-old Jamaican American youth activist and Class of 2020 graduate, advocating for gender equality and educational equity.⁣ ⁣ Her message to the #Classof2020?⁣ ⠀⁣ "It is going to be challenging and difficult to start a new chapter of our lives without having closure. The world is waiting for leaders like us to advocate for issues we care deeply about.
