Photo by @hellokrisdavidson This noble Texas longhorn stood like this for a good 10 minutes, basking in the long afternoon sunlight. Texas longhorns are descended from cattle brought into the Americas by the Spanish in the late 1400s and early 1500s. From there, wild herds underwent intense natural selection. The cattle that survived were the ones that became disease-resistant and able to thrive through droughts, floods, and extremes of heat and cold. Despite their daunting horns, the breed is known for a gentle disposition. #Texas #Longhorn #cattle
