She taught high school English and raised three kids of her own, giving birth to twins in the 60s-naturally. . She volunteered to play the organ at our church for over 60 years. . She also raised three of her grand kids; me and my sisters. She was my reason for forging on after my spinal cord injury and calling her after any accomplishment was the fuel to my fire. . She could easily read a novel a day and wrote 12 books of genealogy on our family. She loved playing words with friends, scrabble, doing crosswords and telling stories about her younger days of world travel with my grandpa. . . She was an angel living on earth and finally went home to heaven on Tuesday afternoon. She lived an extraordinarily generous life that blessed so many. . . Me and my sisters were by her bedside as she bravely looked death in the face and said “I’m ready”. . . I’ve had a hard time trying to find the words to say anything about this legend of a woman and how she impacted our lives. But for now, I will just say what she wrote on a piece of paper at the hospital “Thank you for all the Love” . . We are beyond blessed by you Grandma. You gave us your life, you gave us a second chance. You taught us how the world works and what it looks like to be steady in rough waters. The matriarch of a family that needed someone to hold it all down. . . As our hearts unravel and the grief journey begins, we continue to be grateful for all the love we’ve already received from so many.
