東急線沿線にある日本家屋をご紹介します。
東急田園都市線・大井町線の二子玉川駅か東急大井町線の上野毛駅から歩いて10分弱。近代的なビルが立ち並ぶエリアの側にある広大な二子玉川公園。その緑豊かな園内に世田谷区登録有形文化財に登録されている「旧清水家住宅書院」があります。
賑やかな都会とは異なり、どこか静穏な空間が広がるこの日本家屋は現在の台東区にあった清水家屋敷の離れとして、明治43年（1910年）頃に建築。大正8年（1919年）には世田谷区の清水家屋敷に移築され、平成25年（2013年）現在地に再移築されました。
建物内にある書院の間にある黒漆で仕上げた天井の格縁と、金箔地にあざやかな葛と藤が描かれた襖絵のコントラストが印象的です。
小規模な外観からは想像できないとても見ごたえのある建築です。

Authentic Japanese estates along the Tokyu Lines.
This spot is just short of a 10 min. walk from Kaminoge Station on the Tokyu Oimachi Line, or from Futako-Tamagawa Station on the Tokyu Den-en-toshi/Oimachi Lines. The walk up to the area is lined with modern buildings that lead to the expansive Futakotamagawa Park. Inside, the park is full of lush green but is also home to the former Shimizu Family Residence Shoin, a Tangible Cultural Asset registered by Setagaya Ward. It was built as a vast and serene escape from the city hustle, originally as an annex of the Shimizu Family estate that was built in 1910 (year 43 of the Meiji era) in current day Taito Ward. In 1919, the estate was moved to a cottage location in Setagawa Ward and reconstructed at this location in 2013. Inside you’ll find a stunning library affixed with a finely crafted lattice ceiling that's accented with black lacquer, contrasted against the traditional fusuma panels whose gold leaf patterns of arrowroot and wisteria will take your breath away.
With humble exterior, you’ll be surprised by the remarkable interior of this hidden gem.
