Let me preface this by sharing that sometimes I feel lost in this world of social media. I wonder if anything is held sacred in this realm of how we connect and interact. The handful of instances where I’ve experienced or witnessed the participation of dehumanizing each other from gossip, bullying, angles, entitlement and all the elements that disconnect us, has at times left me feeling temporarily jaded and steeped in the negative energy. I was reminded that it is in these very moments I need to stop and pause, take a step back and refuel myself with care. . This quote by John O’Donohue sums it up well, “If you try to view yourself through the lenses that others offer you, all you will see are distortions; your own light and beauty will become blurred, awkward, and ugly. Your sense of inner beauty has to remain a very private thing.” I think this can be applied to our lens on how we see the world outside of ourselves too. . So last night, after catching myself feeling a bit lackluster, I put my phone down and spent the rest of the evening on sowing into my heart. Part of that included sharing it with my son in the world of Play-Doh where we imagined we were on a cooking show making an entrée and dessert. I forgot how much I love the simplicity of play and indeed Play-Doh. . This morning I woke up refreshed, re-arranging and organizing my desk space with a renewed lens. When I opened my social media, a bit later than usual, I was greeted with an unexpected gift in the form of the kindest series of voice messages, that reached the cavernous recesses in my heart. It widened my scope of Kindness. And how even recently I have been gifted this with other unexpected gifts of conversation. The residue of mire dissipates in the light of kindness. And so, my wish for everyone as we head into the weekend, is that goodness & kindness would find each of you in unexpected ways.」7月18日 0時52分 - catharinemisook
