Move over butterflies, it’s National Moth Week! Mostly active at night, coming in all shapes, sizes and colors, moths are fascinating and yet often overlooked. This cecropia moth is the largest native moth in North America, and was photographed at Carlsbad Caverns National Park in #NewMexico. With well over 150,000 species of moths, they are among the most diverse organisms on earth. National Moth Week is the perfect week to participate in community #science and report #moth sightings. This will not only help scientists learn about these amazing insects, but it’s wonderful to see the dazzling moths near you.
