What feeling do you think this image invokes?

For myself, this image represents empathy. For a brief moment, a walrus gazes deep into the eyes of a human as the human stares back at the unfamiliar creature that stands before him. In that moment, there is no man, there is no animal, just two beings sharing a momentary insight into each other.

Moments like these are ones that a photographer can only dream to capture. I’m forever grateful to have had the opportunity to witness such beauty. Shot by @andy_mann #onassigment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック in Franz Joseph Land.
