Chris is prolly more of whisperer than a dragger as his team of mules and horses are so very well dialed into walking around in the woods.   This year we visited the Sun River and climbed up to the Native American pictographs that adorn a small cave at the confluence of the North and South Forks. The deep pool and the thermal spring make this spot a very special place. Chris and I sat in the window room and thought about the conversations that might have taken place over the millennium.  The connection to the equine world is only several generations removed for most of humanity. I appreciate those that find time and dedication to keep hay-burners in our lives. It takes skill and hard work.  Dulcinea del Toboso is a fictional character in Cervantes’ “Don Quixote”. Chris named one of his mules Dulcinea. Each year Dulcinea has the onerous duty of hauling me around. She is in charge as I’m not much of a rider. She munches grass along the trail, looks at any fork in the path with genuine curiosity and finds me in the morning. I’ll scratch her ears and give her a treat of “cake” (molasses infused snacks!).  Otis and Chipper, the two dogs along for the adventure, make the journey complete.   Here is to many more adventures.
