Photo by @babaktafreshi It was a magical, freezing night in April 2016. I was camping with a German film crew for the "Borderless Sky" documentary at 4,500 meters (14,764 feet) in the Altiplano, on the border of Chile and Bolivia. This single exposure of 20 seconds revealed the southern Milky Way and the core of the galaxy rising over a partly frozen river.
