And I was privileged enough to afford allll the supplements and access to lactation consultants. But this is not the case for everyone...it’s Black breastfeeding awareness week so I wanted to discuss the reasons for the racial disparity in breastfeeding rates. Many experts agree it is the lack of diversity among lactation consultants. Because they may not be culturally knowledgeable or sensitive enough to properly support Black moms.
