If you seam-stressed about whether you can bring your sewing project on your travels, just take it one stitch at a time. Sewing machines and sewing needles are allowed in carry-on bags. For the sewing machine, we recommend you check with the airline to ensure the item will fit in the overhead bin or underneath the seat. Circular thread cutters or needlepoint threads that contain blades must be placed in checked baggage. You are allowed to keep scissors smaller than 4 inches in your carry-on.
