I was too upset at the time to post anything about it. He was by far the smartest kid in my class, and amazingly he was also the kindest. Many friends drift apart as years pass but Mishal and I had grown closer over time. I had introduced him to his wife @ayshasursock and was honored to speak at their unforgettable wedding in Geneva. Smart people can often be a bit heartless, and the big hearted so often misguided. Mishal famously scored over 170 on an early IQ test in childhood and thus skipped a few grades—hard to believe I know, but ask his mother, it’s actually true—yet he was always the first person to stand up for his friends, and to offer help when it was needed. The only thing that was bigger than his brain was his heart. I could never hope to meet another person like you, and I feel lucky to have known you as deeply as I did Mishal. Thank you for explaining everything to me always. Thank you for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself. (That sounds cheesy but it’s absolutely true. To see yourself through Mishal’s eyes was to see the very best person you could be.) Navigating 2020 without you Mish, has been a nightmare.
