A lot of people will say that #Tulum is better and Playa is touristy, but I don't care. I've been to both places multiple times, and I still choose Playa. . Here's why and why I chose #Mexico in general: . 1. Mexico has one of the easiest long term visas to get (6 months!!). 2. Locals are extremely welcoming, happy, and nice to foreigners! 3. You can get a luxury apartment like mine for super cheap. 4. It was easy to get my dog here (he needed a bill of health from the vet and vax records), and Playa is very pet friendly. 5. It's only a 1.5 hour flight for my mom to come see us. 6. Playa is walking distance to literally everything I could possibly want or need (we are cutting back on car usage!). 7. It's way less obnoxiously trendy than Tulum. Literally every "influencer" flocks there, but I feel like the true digital nomads know it's a better deal to base in Playa. 8. The entire Quintana Roo area has so many things to see and do, that it would take months to do it all! 9. I have a strong sense of fate, I felt compelled to come here, and now my normal biz is picking back up with tourism board projects here! 10. I mean hello, it's paradise. . One thing I must make you all aware of though if you're thinking of coming here: most people don't wear masks, but I beg you to set a good example and wear one!! I will be really mad if this area is nice enough to allow tourists and they bring this stupid virus with them! . Another thing I must voice: It is very sad to see the growing mass construction by big corporations here, especially in Tulum. In fact the Tao group is about to demolish thousands of acres of jungle (where Jaguars live) for a new residence community near Gran Cenote. Furthermore, many companies are illegally destroying mangroves (which are the TOP oxygen producing plants on the planet) to build condos. I'm not sure how to help stop it, but I will let you all know as soon as I find out. For now, do your research and don't stay at places that were built illegally on mangroves or preserved areas!!
