A lucky little mouse has blessed your feed 🐁

In this work, a small mouse (or rat) nibbles on a brightly colored radish. While sometimes little appreciated in Western traditions, the rat in Japanese folklore is appreciated for its resourcefulness and quick wits, and is often seen in artworks as a symbol of prosperity and luck.

In the zodiac tradition observed in China, Japan, and Korea, the rat is the first of all the zodiac animals, and 2020 marks the year of the rat. Like the rodent itself, people born in the year of the rat are thought to be clever, hard-working, and energetic. Recent rat years were 2008, 1996, 1984, 1972, 1960, and 1948.
