フィラデルフィア美術館のインスタグラム(philamuseum) - 9月29日 08時33分

In this massive sculpture by #ThorntonDialSr, who was born #onthisday in Bessemer, Alabama, the artist created a parable for racial discrimination and exclusion in the United States. Formerly a metalsmith at a railyard, Dial incorporated steel, tin, and wire in this mixed media assemblage. In his work, a group of birds seeks life-giving water as a driftwood alligator lurks below and an eagle, which represents government indifference toward equal opportunity, soars above.
