There is a rabbit burrow hiding somewhere within it, and two furry friends we’ve noticed thus far. Bees buzz and woodpeckers echo in the distance. I relish the unkemptness of it all. My plein air watercolor sketch does not at all resemble my surroundings, but it is my surroundings that usher me into the scope of imagination and that is where I paint from today. I love the quiet. . I’m back inside now as lunch preparations were beckoning, and now that stomachs have been fed, I sit for a moment writing this out while the water boils. I think I will take my tea and journal and go back to the unkempt cozy spot outside in the backyard while I still have it to myself. It is Friday, and yes, thank goodness for it. I’ve been maintaining a weekend ritual for awhile now of putting all devices on silent and away in a separate room. It is eye opening the difference of a day it makes. Who knows, perhaps one of these days we will be able to peer through the rabbit’s burrow and forget we even had devices and phones because we have discovered the Wonderland of living again.
