Over 5,000 invitation were mailed out and hand-delivered for a very select guest list (on view in the exhibition). Celebrities that evening included Grace Jones and Cher, who appeared on the cover of the New York Post the following morning —in fact, Steve called Ian at 5 in the morning to tell him! Also that evening, the Alvin Ailey II Dance Theater performed, in costumes by Antonio Lopez for Fiorucci.
