It’s leg day baby! 🙌🏾 Who’s getting under a bar today? Read this ⤵️
I had a chat with someone about how some of the bodybuilders with the biggest legs do not barbell squat 😱 I’ve always known this 😏 but for me, barbell squatting hasn’t necessarily been about growing my legs the ‘fastest’ way possible. I think I see it as a rite of passage, to be a true weightlifter (not bodybuilder) you have to get under a bar.
Now that is my own thought process, it doesn’t have to align with yours, after all, we all have different goals.
For example, for many ‘competitive bodybuilders’ the focus is solely on improving size, strength is not really a concern, or is an afterthought. As a non competitive bodybuilder my goals and driving force combines both in almost equal measure. Sure I want to build an impressive physique but I also want to be a powerful weightlifter. When was the last time you looked over and thought, ‘that’s a great set of leg extensions bro’ 😅 but we all have admiration for a clean powerful squat 🙌🏾
