Backstory on The Noble Gent Challenge (Part 1)

Close to 5 years ago i was feeling beat down, depressed, extremely fatigued, and uninspired. I spoke to my pops (Johnny Kat) and told him how i was feeling and as the incredible caring person he is, he suggested that i get some blood work done to see what was really going on considering i was fairly healthy at the time (so i thought). My dad is a doctor and an extremely well respected one throughout the province of BC, but when he suggested that he would review my state with me, i declined. The way saw it, if my dad told me to try and change my habits in order to live a healthily life, i would have probably ignored him...yes, its a shitty thing to say, but deep down we are all still shitty teenagers that ignore our parents. I scheduled an appointment with a doc Johnny recommended.

After our check up, i received a call in the am on New Year’s Day....as i stumbled to the phone on barley any sleep (see at the time i was drinking A LOT...to be honest i was very self destructive and didn’t know it), i was greeted on the phone by the Doc. “Dan, i have some good news and bad news. Bad news is that due to the alcohol abuse, your liver is severely damaged...(tight). The good news is that if you stop drinking TODAY it will regenerate....if you don’t stop, you will have irreversible damage....(even more tight)”.

Once i received the call, as i was shaking from a good time the night before, i immediately sprung into action. See, life is all about action and progression. I look at the situation as a lesson or a beautiful mistake. This is exactly what i needed to hear to implement change. I realized that making a significant change like this would be extremely challenging, especially when the very thing i was about to change was such a big part of my life. I decided that this change was going to take a complete overhaul and recalibration. I needed to get rid of bad habits and introduce new ones. So I challenged myself with a list of things that i wanted to improve on and things i wanted to take a long break from. It takes 60 days to make or break a habit, so that is the duration i decided to run with.... 📸 @jeiteerei
