A year ago I was found ‘not guilty’ after being charged with criminal damage and aggravated trespass for a direct action I took against the International Petroleum Conference in London.

I owe a huge amount to @kirsty_brimelow the incredible lawyer who represented me in my case. Kirsty has dedicated her career to protecting human rights and watching her work in court was something that will always stay with me.

It’s strange to look back at that period of my life, and I often wonder what impact it all had. Over the last two years, thousands of people have been arrested as part of @extinctionrebellion actions and without doubt it has helped to shift the needle on climate action in the UK.

Whilst I stand by my actions and I’m proud of what we achieved, I also recognise that direct action activism and risking arrest isn’t a privilege afforded to everyone. Activism comes in many different forms which is why I wanted to build an inclusive online platform to educate others on the climate crisis.

Nelson Mandela famously said that ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you use to change the world’ and I think he’s right.

I have so much faith in our generation to demand the drastic changes required over the next decade, and I hope that @earthrise.studio can inspire others to stand up and be counted in whichever way works for them and their circumstances, because at the end of the day this is a fight that needs all of us. ❤️✊🏼
