Just finished reading “Kindred” by Octavia Butler - a story of moral dilemma, of compromise, of pride and shame. It deals with a modern-day black woman being thrust back in time in the days of slavery and confronting slave owners that are her ancestors and their slaves, from whom she is also a descendant. So well put-together. It took me a minute to get into it, but glad I hung with it. It helps open you up to deep racial realities you may not have previously dealt with or even known about. #thisboyslife
