However, locals kept them running, sometimes adapting parts from Russian vehicles. Talented metal workers were able to replace fenders and do other body work as the cars started to rust. When tourism returned to this Caribbean island these cars got extremely popular - old architecture and old cars were a perfect combination for visitors and photographers
