A few minor technical glitches in the field mean that I will only be posting brand new pics from my new @ナショナルジオグラフィック assignment in the Kalahari later next week - In the meantime here is a unpublished photograph from my @ナショナルジオグラフィック magazine story Cross Currents. Getting photographs of Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins off southern Mozambique’s Ponta Do Ouro marine reserve was a wee bit tricky. To make this image I had to swim into the surf zone and repeatedly free dive under breaking waves. Exact timing and a healthy dose of good fortune meant the difference between getting the shot or getting pounded by the surf. This was originally a color photograph and only recently did I come to appreciate its qualities as a black and white image.
