While religious gatherings and offers take place by the graves in the cemeteries, a more pagan celebration is held around town with many parades ending up in the Zocalo, the core of the old town. The crowd takes to the streets and the cemeteries in a display of sounds, scents, and colors to honor the memories of the dead with joy. This is a real celebration of life that is anything but sad.  November 1 honors the souls of departed children and it’s called Dia de los Angelitos (Day of the Little Angels). The adults are honored the following night.
