Sunrises are one of my favourite parts about trekking in Himalayas, and this was one where we woke up to early morning chill at Bhoj Kharak camp on our way to Kedartal, and then sat outside our tents, waiting for the sun to rise and for our bodies to warm up.

Cups of tea and coffee were drowned, porridge was eaten, we took short walks around the area, warming our feet, then sharing stories to distract ourselves from the cold weather, with our eyes stuck to the ridges of Bhrigu Parbat, where sun rays were constantly creating a beautiful show, as if teasing us before the sun rose behind those peaks.

And a little before it happened, we stood there watching the colours appear over the ridges, and a blue sky wasn’t just blue anymore, while the sun slowly crept up the peak to say good morning to us, gifting us another beautiful day where we’d walk further through the Himalayan valley, onwards to all the gems that’d lay waiting for us.

But before we could’ve taken the first step forward, all we did was to stand there, at our tiny campsite on one of the slopes, staring at the absolute beauty of the nature and wondering when did we stop praying to the Gods that continue existing in front of our eyes.

When did we stop bowing in front of the mountains and suns and rivers and trees, that continue to give us happiness and life every single day.
