Lean on me – There is no doubt that we are living in extraordinary times. With so much uncertainty about what the future holds for so many it is inevitable that millions of people out there are struggling with their mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. From extreme bouts of depression, the seismic increase in anxiety and panic disorders, right through to a general malaise it seems that every conceivable gamut of emotion is being experienced out there by someone. It doesn’t help of course that our political elite, those that we have elected to govern our respective nations, are so at odds themselves, frequently sowing the seeds of division and of intolerance, seeking to drive apart rather than unify, focussing only on our differences, not our similarities. So today I’m speaking primarily to those of you that are struggling, in whatever capacity that may be, emotional, financial, with family, with friends or with dependants. Growing up I realised through my own pain the enormous sense of liberation and relief that simply sharing one’s fears, ones troubles or anxieties can elicit. So if you’re out there today I really hope that there is someone out there onto whose broad shoulders you can lean for just a little.
