It has never been more clear that our health rises and falls together. This year, we have endured terrible losses and been inspired by the strength of our communities. We have each done our part to wash our hands, wear a mask and keep our distance because we know that stopping COVID-19 will take all of us. The same is true of other infectious diseases that remain a serious threat to children. Last year, global cases of measles reached their highest level in 23 years. We know what works to stop the virus: the proven power of vaccines. But to build up our collective immunity and prevent deadly outbreaks, we need 95% of our community to receive the measles vaccine. Our health relies on each other.
