When I saw this elm burl at the local lumber yard, I immediately saw the silhouette of a mighty elephant with its big widespread ears. I accentuated the knots in the ears by stippling size 02 & 03 Pigma Micron pens in and around them. Then I used a white Gelly Roll pen to highlight key areas like the eyes, tusks, botanicals, wrinkles in the skin, and stars throughout the night sky. The thick, bold tip of Pigma Professional Brush pens helped to fill in the background of this 2-foot burl. I’m absolutely in love with this piece and am so happy that it just sold to a lovely collector who lives up in Seattle!
