The New River is among the oldest rivers on the continent. A view from the upper reaches in #WestVirginia showcases the rugged whitewater flowing northward through deep canyons. When Nick Palastro took this shot, there was a brief moment of intense light illuminating the #autumn colors in the foreground and shining across the river, right before the sun rose behind the cloud deck racing overhead.
