She wanted to offer her 'feedback' that I should switch up what I talk about so she doesn't feel guilty... I find this perspective so weird.   There's nothing wrong with being happy with a partner, it's what most of us hope for. I'm currently in a happy relationship myself. Having said she found her single years miserable, I feel like she should be even more grateful and supportive of seeing people champion single positivity, rather than being resentful of it. It's not a them VS us situation. We can be happy in a relationship, be happy FOR people in healthy relationships, and be happy for happily single people who might not want to settle for a less than a healthy relationship. We can treat single people in society as equals (and invite them to your couple things)... Whilst also acknowledging that society makes it hard enough for them to feel worthy, and being mindful and respectful of the fact it might be hard for them, especially during lockdown. You can be single positive and still look forward to the day you meet someone who makes your soul happy. It doesn't mean that you want to stay single forever, it means that you aren't any better or worse for your relationship status. It means not ditching your friends when you get into a relationship. It means acknowledging how society wrongly puts value on a relationship status - when ALL of us might one day be single again. It's remembering to be there for your single friends in the way you wished your friends showed up for you when you were - not setting them up with your boyfriend's weird mate, not cancelling on them, not fitting them in around your partner's schedule. I'm always going to be the woman I wish I had at difficult times in my life. Be it through slut shaming, dealing with big boobs in a world that shames and sexualises us, showing my honest side of pregnancy (and hopefully showing life doesn't stop as a mum), or showing up for single people even when I'm in a relationship.   Let's empower ALL women.♀️」11月18日 18時06分 - ashleylouisejames
