ガゴシアン・ギャラリーさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ガゴシアン・ギャラリーInstagram)「In a recent video for Artforum, Taryn Simon discusses her ongoing project "Black Square" (2006–present), in which she photographs objects, people, and documents against a black field of the same dimensions as Kasimir Malevich's Suprematist painting of 1915. Simon describes the project as a “disorderly inventory of random fragments and consequences of human invention.” Charged with the uncertainties and paradoxes of our future, Simon's contemporary icons attest to what we have done. In the video, Simon speaks about the most recent addition to the series: "Black Square XXIV" (2020)—a portrait of Joe Biden, whom she photographed at the White House in the first term of his vice presidency. She notes how the still-unfolding events of the 2020 presidential election have changed and continue to change the ways we might view this image.
