Aujourd’hui, focus sur « Le Départ pour le sabbat », présenté dans l’#ExpoAltdorfer. 🔎 - ✍️ Inventorié au début du XIXe siècle comme de la main de Dürer, ce dessin a été attribué à Altdorfer en 1923. Depuis lors, cette remarquable pièce est unanimement considérée comme une œuvre capitale de cet artiste de la Renaissance germanique. - 🧙‍♀️ Au premier plan, quatre sorcières à moitié nues, trois debout et une assise, se tiennent dans un paysage forestier. D'autres s'envolent sur des boucs, pour une chevauchée fantastique. Quelques maisons d'un village, caché en partie par la cavalcade, apparaissent à l'arrière-plan, sur la gauche. - 👀 Le Départ pour le sabbat n'est pas un exemple isolé de l'intérêt pour la sorcellerie au XVIe siècle. Today, let’s talk about the drawing « Departure for the Sabbath », featured in the exhibition Albrecht Altdorfer. 🔎 - ✍️ Cataloged at the beginning of the nineteenth century as the work of Albrecht Dürer, this remarkable drawing was attributed to Altdorfer in 1923. It already displays his remarkable genius in its combination of lyricism, fantasy, and mystery. - 🧙‍♀️ In the foreground of the picture, four half-naked witches (three standing and one seated) are depicted in a forest setting, while others soar into the sky on the backs of goats. In the background, to the left, a few village dwellings are partly concealed by the fantastical cavalcade. - 👀 The Departure for the Sabbath is one of many works reflecting the 16th-century interest in witchcraft.
