ヴィッキー・パティソンさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ヴィッキー・パティソンInstagram)「Your life isn’t yours if you always care what others think.. 👏🏼💁🏻‍♀️ I read a comment today from some little twerp telling me I ‘spoke like a man even on Instagram’.. being the red blooded Scorpio woman that I am I wanted to reply, I wanted to call him a little twerp, (obviously I’m far too dignified for that 😂🙄), I wanted to ask him how language was gender specific, I wanted to do a lot of things to be fair, including praying he stood on an upturned plug.. And in the end, I realised none of it was important. I was never going to change his mind- & why did I care anyway?! I don’t know him, he doesn’t seem like a particularly nice person, his opinion doesn’t pay my bills?! So why the f**k did I care?! And thats the million dollar question- why DID I care about the twerp’s opinion?! I know I’m a natural people pleaser & I think we’ll all agree it’s nice to be liked. But deep down I know we can’t be everyone’s cup of tea all the time- & what I need to realise is that that is FINE! I’ve spent too much time over the years trying to be what I thought I should be, or what people wanted me to be. But it’s draining & tiring & thankless- because not only will you never please everyone but the more you try to keep others happy- the less you focus on your own happiness. So baring that in mind, I just wanted to say cheers to that little twerp, & anyone else who has ever had anything negative to say about me, about where I came from, about how I conduct myself, how I look or the decisions I make- you’re entitled to your opinion, but it is not fact. And I will not allow your opinions to dictate my actions!! We are all guilty from time to time, of people pleasing or dimming our sparkle so others feel better & occasionally we’re so scared to be ourselves for fear of rebuke we almost lose our identities entirely. Well I suggest we stop- we take pride in who we are, the choices we make & the people we’re becoming & worry less about the opinions of others. After all, some people just don’t like you because your strength reminds them of their weakness. Don’t let their hate slow you down. You’ve got this!
