Photo by @Justin.Jin / I stretched my back after trekking two days on ice to reach Olkhon Island in the middle of a frozen Lake Baikal. It was 2008, and this trek of 90 kilometers (56 miles) from west to east inspired me to do a larger body of photographic work around the world’s deepest lake, which holds 20 percent of the Earth’s freshwater. The lake, with the size of a sea, divides the area into European and Asian parts.
