He was married to his beloved wife, Santa Teresita Mendoza Reyna Sanchez, in 1987. The couple work in tandem and she and his sons complete the details on the pieces he still moulds daily .  Their workshop in San Antonino includes the ceramic pieces made by family members: Santa Reyna Teresita, José Miguel, Sara Ernestina, Reyna Esther, and son-in-law Jose Luis Reyes Martinez. He has passed his art on his children who work in the family compound alongside him. Students from local schools often come to the workshop for demonstrations and hands-on sessions.  Her face and body are etched in his memory and continue to provide a model for many of his female figures.  Their obsession is #Zapotec people and mermaids / mermen...always imbued with humor and a real sexiness.  “It would seem that the hearts of the potters of Oaxaca are made of clay.
