The traditional rowboat floats in front of the secluded shores of Kakkathuruthu (Island of Crows), a small island on India's largest lagoon, Lake Vembanad. I photographed a series of images of the backwaters immersed in a dreamlike environment: the gradient of the first daylight, the mirroring waters, and the echoes of the chants coming from the surrounding temples.
