Interviewed in Issue 64 of ZOO Magazine, Swiss artist, Claudia Comte talks about first working with raw materials and unique methods. “I started working on wood sculptures around 12 years ago. I remember when I first told my teachers at ECAL that I wanted to work with wood and, specifically, operate a chainsaw. They actually laughed at first. The very first work I made was a cactus and, for about four years, I swore to myself I would never polish the wood. I really wanted to use a chainsaw and keep the rough finish; it gave the impression of a quick sketch on paper.”

Claudia’s work will feature in a new show ‘Jungle and Corals’ which was intended to run at the König Galerie Chapel, Berlin, from January 12th to February 28th. Unfortunately the Gallery is closed until the end of January due to COVID-19 government regulations.
