Hope you were smiling! A trio of Sun-studying missions took images of Earth and some of our solar system neighbors from different vantage points last year.

These three missions carry instruments to study the Sun and its influence on space, including cameras that look out the sides of the spacecraft to study the Sun’s outer atmosphere, the solar wind, and the dust in the inner solar system. It’s these instruments that, at various points in 2020, saw several planets pass through their fields of view.

The first videos show Venus, Earth, and Mars as seen by @europeanspaceagency & @NASA’s Solar Orbiter on Nov. 18, 2020.

The second images are from Parker Solar Probe, which saw six of our solar system’s planets as it flew by the Sun on June 7, 2020.

Finally, the STEREO spacecraft saw the same scene from a different perspective on June 7, 2020.
