Did you know that the museum has the most comprehensive collection of presidential china outside the nation’s capital? Used by US presidents from George Washington to Ronald Reagan, the tablewares in our collection reveal how ceramics and glass changed in style as the leaders of the country entertained in the White House. Some pieces were part of state services purchased by the US government for formal occasions, their decorations conveying ideas of national identity and the importance of the presidency. Other pieces were owned by presidents before or after they held office, and as such reflect personal tastes. #PresidentsDay
