A portrait of two yucca species in peril - I shot this photo in 2016 for @ナショナルジオグラフィック part of a series where the creative vision was to create a “family portrait” mood around things climate change was effecting. These two plants here, the #joshuaTree and the #mojaveYucca are both being harshly affected by heat index rise, the primary symptom of climate change. Desert environments are easily overlooked, but are as susceptible to loosing life at a rapid pace as the Arctic. These ecosystems are delicately held together, as temperatures continue to slowly rise and draught conditions heighten, they’re showing heavy signs of fertility loss.
