Called Reklam-Konstruktor (Advertising-Constructor), Rodchenko designed the bold graphics while poet Vladimir Mayakovsky contributed the pithy slogans. This promotional poster was created for a publishing company. In the 1920s and ’30s, in the wake of a world war and major political upheavals, artists like Rodchenko turned away from traditional forms of painting and sculpture to invent new visual languages.
