I used to drive there every winter, meandering solo through the Southwest, taking time to reflect on the year, make photographs and meet strangers. This time I’ll be visiting with @vibramnorthamerica and attempting to run 50 kms around the Behind the Rocks Wilderness Area, a part of Moab I have yet to explore. Vibram has helped make this possible by assisting me with gear, coaching and more over the last few months, for which I’m forever grateful. They’ve also opened my eyes to an entirely new community and hobby - trail running. As climbing once did for me, trail running has reconnected me with nature, opened my eyes to a community of passionate and positive people and shown me a new way to take care of myself, both physically and mentally. It challenges me and takes me far outside my comfort zone, which is a happy place for me. I am excited to push myself through the desert and hopefully complete the race, but truth-be-told, I already feel like I’ve won.
