Photo by @mattborowick | Many of these icebergs are the size of small sports stadiums if you can believe it. They are stuck in place most likely touching the ground in this shallow water area between two land masses close to together. From our perspective the mass to the left is a mountain called Hermelintop and the island to the right is known as Red Island, named for its vibrant red sandstone. This part of the Scoresby Sund, in Eastern Greenland is unofficially called the “Traffic Jam” or “Iceberg Graveyard” as many icebergs get stuck in place when they drift into it.
