ヒル・ハーパーさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ヒル・ハーパーInstagram)「The reason I became an actor was because of proud, intelligent, classy, activist men like Harry Belafonte. He, like Paul Robeson, Sidney Poitier, Ossie Davis and so many represented the best of us! One of the proudest moments of my career was getting to do a fireside chat with Mr. Belafonte. He told me something similar to what Ossie Davis had told me when we were filming “Get On the Bus” and that was— To be a great actor and artist (especially if you are Black) you must be political…you must fight for human and civil rights. Your platform and standing require it of you until civil rights and freedoms are accorded all. That day I got to explain to him how much he inspired me and continues to and how he is so important to so many of us. Around that same time I got to meet and become friends with Gina, his daughter, who is equally an activist of the highest regard. Such a wonderful and inspiring family! I remember proudly reading about when he guest hosted ”The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” in 1968 and that he brought Dr. King on the show as a guest. This was months before Dr. King’s murder and MLK explained that he was expanding the focus of his activism from racial Justice to economic injustice for poor communities. The Tonight Show at that time was a hugely watched platform and he used it to educate and send a message, not only entertain. All of us stand on the great shoulders of Harry Belafonte. May you rest in power king! All praise and respect due. Mr. Belafonte is and always will be a hero! Thank you for your legacy and your activism! #rip #legacy #hero ✊🏾🙏🏾🕊️ @theharrybelafonte」4月25日 23時31分 - hillharper
